  Who helps the most - POMO or PIMO

  i was recentely talking to my girl who is also awaken about if there were any chance of the org to lose at least its power and authority since i believe to expect a destruction of the org is unreal i came to the conclusion that the best way to help jws is by means of the pimos.. if we take the own jw logic (the world is bad but we need to live among them in order to bring them to our side) i think that if a good part of the people who left when found ttatt stayed in they we could have much more awaken people today.

  when you are out it gets extremely hard to gain the trust of any jehovah's witness to begin with.

  every totalitarian government had to fight rebels among them.. im not being numb to the causes of anyone who decided to leave.

  PIMO doesn't really help. You could have the entire org be full of PIMO people and it would still exist and function.

  I understand your point but I disagree. If like 50% were PIMO imagine the money that the org would not put the hands on and imagine how much less hours of field service would be wasted and boasted about. Imagine the decline on the number of elders and pioneers. And, the most important, these people wouldn't be hampered to talk to their PIMI friends and explain why they are "not so excited with the kingdom things" and all...

  In the long term, the org would be forced or to change or to become a placebo.

  Im not being numb to the causes of anyone who decided to leave. In fact I recognize the personal benefits are totally valid. What I'm saying is that maybe this - leaving - is what is making the org able to remain powerful. Let's be sincere, we are not Ray Franz. A resignation or a speech of protest from us is like throwing a rock in a lake, it makes small waves and quickly fades. I really believe we should think of this alternative strategy.

  What do you think? Is the possibility of bringing the org down be enough to keep you associated?

  after a bit of a kerfuffle over a procedural matter, my university has awarded me a degree.

  (the procedural problem was caused by my independent selection of what i wanted to study).

  award : bachelor of arts.

  Congratulations. The second book of R. Franz made me interested in History of christianity.

  Mostly because of the org I Pioneered right after high school and lost a precious time. But "God heard my prayers" and I expect to graduate in physics by the end of next year. I'll be practically 27. There's a latent bad feeling that the time will never be recovered, but, I'm trying to focus on the good side.

  i am shaking all over right now.

  i think it's worse that the bunker video.. i used to think there was no way that these people would actually "drink the cool aid" if you get my drift, but seeing this video i am now not sure it could never happen.. having a wife who i love dearly trapped in this cult is really freaking me out right now...

  i've known many talented witnesses and ex-jw's that could compose music,write novels, paint portraits etc.

  but i think this is the best art-form(music,songwriting and composing) that i have personally seen/heard so far that puts what so many of us have experienced and endured into words.i used to listen to r.e.m.

  's song "losing my religion" and think how great it would be if someday an ex-jw could do a song that would apply even more to us.

  I think the song "Freedom" by Anthony Hamilton ( theme of Django unchained) is almost perfectly fit to the life of a JW who is waking up. It talks about o physical slavery and physical freedom but the feeling is identical.

  Commentary on the Letter of James

  zoiks inspired this thread when he mentioned this book elsewhere.. i have read other threads on this forum about it, but i always enjoy the fresh insight on here.. commentary on the letter of james was always my favorite book from wtbs, partly because i love the book of james, but also because it was one of the books that dealt with more practical christian living than constant wt doctrine.. i mentioned to a number of people that i loved that book, and got a few comments of "well, you know that book was written by an apostate.".

  it didnt take me long to do a little math - that book came out i believe in 1979/1980, right around the time of the great purge.

  how could someone write such an excellent book and then be branded an apostate just a few months later???.

  I was surprised some time time ago to discover that Raymond Franz wrote the old Family Life book. Is that true? Considering it has some of the more infamous statements on sexuality and gender relations.

  I'd not be that shocked. Ray Franz was an excellent human being but WAS a christian, JW, conservative about sexual morals and he never denied it in any of his books. What makes him special is that he advocates that the one's opinion (his, for example) isn't the rule for anyone else but the oneself. But he's never been anything that resembles what a secular humanist is nowadays.

  the man on left is ari hakkarainen, representative of jw in finland.

  the woman in middle is reporter susanna päivärinta and the lady at right is josefina pakomaa who was abused by family friend - a jw - when she was 11. a vicious apostate today.
